2026 Bike Walk Golden Priorities

1. Expand Access to Better Bicycle Parking

We're working to expand safe, visible bike parking across Golden — with a particular focus on private destinations like grocery stores and businesses. With grant funding in hand, we're identifying new locations, coordinating with the City on their broader parking plans, and working to ensure cyclists have secure places to lock up wherever they're headed.

2. Make Pedestrian Crossings Safer

We're pushing to make Golden's crosswalks safer for everyone. Working from the City's Vision Zero framework, we're collaborating with council members to identify priority crossings in each ward and advocating for updates to how crosswalks are evaluated — including accounting for where people want to cross, not just where they already do, and improving lighting for people on foot.

3. Support the Ore Cart and Public Transit

A connected, accessible Golden means more options for getting around without a car. We're engaging with city staff and elected officials to explore how the Ore Cart and local transit network can better serve residents — and how our organization can help move that conversation forward.

4. Traffic Calming & Reducing Speeding - Cameras and Enforcement

Speeding is one of the most consistent concerns we hear from Golden residents. We're exploring support for traffic enforcement cameras and advocating for the City to pilot low-cost, temporary traffic calming measures — like speed humps and cushions — so that solutions can be tested quickly and affordably before permanent changes are made.

5. Transportation Autonomy for Children

Every child should feel safe and confident getting around Golden on their own. We're partnering with local organizations to grow Bike Walk Roll to School Day, exploring e-bike education opportunities, and looking at bike rodeos at schools to give kids the skills and encouragement they need to travel independently.
